Background remover Plus
Make plain or single-colour backgrounds transparent with tolerance, edge controls, fringe removal and keep/remove brushes, then download a PNG.
About Background remover
This background remover is built for product photos on a white sweep, logos on a coloured square, signatures on paper and screenshots with a flat backdrop. It removes the colours along the edge of the picture (or a colour you click), either only where they connect or everywhere in the image. A tolerance slider decides how different a colour can be and still count as background, and edge softness and edge position controls smooth the cut and move it in or out.
It is a straightforward colour-based method, not an AI model, so it is fast, private and predictable, but it cannot tell a person from a busy street behind them. Keep and Remove brushes fix the spots it got wrong, fringe removal cleans the old background colour out of edge pixels, and you can check the result with a before/after view and previews on a checkerboard, white, black or any colour.
How to use it
- Choose, drop or paste an image with a plain background.
- Leave the mode on “Edge colours” or switch to “Clicked colour” and tap the background you want gone.
- Adjust the tolerance, edge softness, edge position and fringe removal until the background disappears without eating into the subject.
- Fix any mistakes with the Keep and Remove brushes, and check the edge with Before/after and the background previews.
- Download the transparent PNG, or a PNG on the background colour you chose.
Good to know
- Works best on plain, evenly lit, single-colour backgrounds. Busy scenes, shadows, gradients, hair and fur need a lot of brushing or will not separate cleanly.
- Images up to 40 MB can be opened. Pictures over 12 megapixels are scaled down to 12 megapixels before processing, and the download is made at that size.
- The download is always a PNG, because JPEG cannot store transparency.
Questions and answers
Why does part of my subject disappear too?
The subject has colours close to the background. Lower the tolerance, choose “Connected areas only” so separate regions are protected, or paint over the subject with the Keep brush.
Why is there a coloured fringe around the edge?
Edge pixels mix the subject and background colours. Raise “Remove colour fringe”, move the edge position slightly, or use the Remove brush along the outline.
Does this use AI or upload my image?
No. It is a colour-matching method that runs entirely in your browser. The image is never uploaded, and there is no model to download.
Can I remove a colour that is not at the edge, like the inside of a letter O?
Yes. Choose “Everywhere” to remove that colour throughout the picture, or switch to “Clicked colour” and tap the area.
