Binary to text converter Free
Decode binary bytes back into readable UTF-8 text, with clear errors for incomplete bytes and invalid sequences instead of garbled characters.
Text is encoded as UTF-8, so emoji and every script round-trip exactly. Everything runs on your device.
About Binary to text converter
Paste binary such as 01001000 01101001 and get the text it encodes. The bytes are decoded strictly as UTF-8, so emoji, accents and every script come back exactly as they were written.
If the input is not valid text, the tool says why instead of printing replacement characters: for example when the number of bits is not a multiple of eight, or a byte cannot start or continue a UTF-8 character.
How to use it
- Paste the binary. Spaces, line breaks, underscores and 0b prefixes between bytes are fine.
- Read the decoded text, or the error explaining which byte is wrong.
- Copy the text, or press Swap to encode it again.
Good to know
- Numbers are converted with JavaScript BigInt, so there is no size limit beyond the 1,000,000-character input cap and your device’s memory.
- Two’s complement is offered at 8, 16, 32 and 64 bits. Values outside the chosen width are rejected rather than silently cut off.
- Text is always encoded as UTF-8. Other encodings such as UTF-16 or Latin-1 give different bytes for the same characters.
Questions and answers
Why do I get “not a whole number of bytes”?
UTF-8 text is made of 8-bit bytes. If the total number of 0s and 1s is not a multiple of 8, a digit is missing or extra somewhere.
What does “continuation byte with no lead byte” mean?
Bytes starting with 10 can only appear inside a multi-byte character. Seeing one first usually means the binary was cut in the middle of a character.
Can I paste numbers with spaces, underscores or a prefix?
Yes. Spaces, tabs, line breaks and underscores are ignored, and a leading 0b (binary) or 0x (hex) prefix is accepted. If a character cannot be read, the error names it and its position.
Is my input sent anywhere?
No. Every conversion runs in your browser; nothing you type leaves your device.
