About Meme creator

Meme creator adds the familiar heavy, outlined caption style to a picture of your own. Type a top and bottom caption, add extra free-placed captions, and drag any of them into position on the image.

Change the font size, fill colour, outline colour and thickness, and switch captions to upper case. The image stays on your device; when you export, the captions are drawn into a new PNG or JPEG at the image’s original resolution.

How to use it

  1. Choose an image from your device or drop it onto the page.
  2. Type the top and bottom captions, or add a free caption.
  3. Select a caption to change its size, colours and outline, and drag it into place.
  4. Download the finished image as PNG or JPEG.

Good to know

  • Images up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels. Exports keep the original size (or 16 megapixels if your browser cannot allocate a canvas that large), which can take a moment for big photos.
  • Captions use a heavy system font (Impact where available, otherwise a similar bold sans-serif), so the look varies slightly between devices.
  • Use images you have the right to share. The tool does not supply meme templates.

Questions and answers

Why doesn’t my caption look like Impact?

Impact is installed on most Windows and macOS computers but not on every phone. The creator falls back to the boldest available sans-serif font, and the outline keeps it readable either way.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The picture is decoded and drawn in your browser and never leaves your device.

PNG or JPEG?

PNG keeps captions perfectly sharp; JPEG gives smaller files for photos and is accepted everywhere.
