About Drawing board

Drawing board is a simple sketchpad for quick ideas, diagrams and doodles. The brush follows your pen, finger or mouse smoothly, and on devices that report pen pressure the stroke gets thicker as you press harder.

Set the brush size, colour and opacity, switch to the eraser, or draw straight lines, rectangles and ellipses. Change the background colour at any time, undo and redo strokes, and export the finished sketch as a PNG.

How to use it

  1. Choose a brush colour, size and opacity.
  2. Draw on the board. Use the eraser or a shape tool when you need it.
  3. Undo or redo strokes, change the background or clear the board.
  4. Download the drawing as a PNG.

Good to know

  • Pressure only changes the stroke width with devices and browsers that report it, such as most styluses on tablets. A mouse draws at a constant width.
  • The board is about 1,600 × 1,000 pixels; the drawing is kept only while the page is open.
  • Undo history keeps the last 100 strokes.

Questions and answers

Does the eraser make the background transparent?

No. The eraser paints the current background colour back in, and the PNG has a solid background. Changing the background later recolours the erased areas too.

Can I use it with an Apple Pencil or other stylus?

Yes. The board uses pointer events and reads pen pressure where the browser provides it, and it ignores your palm while a pen is drawing on most devices.

Are there keyboard shortcuts?

Ctrl or Cmd + Z undoes and Ctrl or Cmd + Shift + Z redoes. B, E, L, R and O switch between the brush, eraser, line, rectangle and ellipse, and [ and ] change the brush size.
