About PDF Studio

PDF Studio is a page-level PDF editor that runs entirely in your browser. Open one or more PDFs, drag pages into a new order, rotate, duplicate or remove them, and append further files to merge them into one document. When you are finished, export the whole document, pull out a range of pages, or split it into separate files.

Annotations sit on a layer above each page: text boxes, freehand ink, translucent highlights, rectangles, ellipses and lines. On export they are drawn into the PDF as vector content, while the original pages are copied across rather than re-rendered, so existing text stays sharp and selectable. Your files are read and written on your device and are never uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Open a PDF with Open PDF, or drop files onto the workspace. Use Add PDF to append pages from more files.
  2. Pick pages in the page list (Ctrl/Cmd-click or Shift-click to choose several), then rotate, move, duplicate or delete them. Drag a page by its grip to reorder it, or press Alt with the arrow keys.
  3. Choose a tool in the toolbar to add text, drawings, highlights or shapes. Switch to Select to move, restyle or delete an annotation; undo and redo cover every change.
  4. Export the full document, or extract the selected pages, page ranges or every N pages. When an export produces several files they download together as one ZIP.

Good to know

  • One session holds up to 500 pages and 100 MB of PDFs. Very large files need a device with plenty of free memory.
  • Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the protection in the app that created the file first.
  • Pages are copied into a new document, so existing form fields, digital signatures, bookmarks and internal links may not survive editing. A signed document will no longer carry a valid signature.
  • Annotations become part of the page content, not editable PDF comments, and drawing over something hides it without removing it from the file. Do not rely on it to redact sensitive information.
  • Text boxes use Helvetica, which covers English and Western European characters. Other scripts and emoji are replaced with a question mark.
  • Nothing is saved automatically. Export before you close the tab.

Questions and answers

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. PDF Studio reads, renders and builds PDFs inside your browser with the pdf-lib and PDF.js libraries that ship with the site. The files are not sent to HandyTechHelper or to anyone else.

Will exporting lower the quality of my pages?

No. Each original page is copied into the new file with its text, fonts and images unchanged. Only your rotations and annotations are added, and annotations are drawn as vector shapes and real text.

Can I change the existing text in a PDF?

No. PDF Studio arranges whole pages and adds new content on top of them; it does not edit text that is already in the document.

How do I split a PDF into single pages?

In the Export section choose “Split every N pages”, leave pages per file at 1 and select Split. The pages download together in one ZIP file, named by page number.

Can I get back a page I deleted?

Yes. Undo (Ctrl+Z, or Cmd+Z on a Mac) reverses page operations and annotation changes, up to the last 100 steps. The history is cleared when you close the document or the tab.
